Studio Wildcard has announced a new round of official-server retirements for ARK: Survival Ascended. The date to watch is November 29, 2026. This is not a shutdown of the entire official network, nor does the announcement say that privately hosted servers are being retired.
The developer's October 29 announcement names specific official servers across regions, maps, PvP and PvE modes, including modded configurations. It also explicitly removes a group of servers from the retirement list after further evaluation. For communities with long-running survivors and bases, checking the exact server identifier matters more than assuming every server on a given map is affected.
Some official ARK servers are scheduled to close on November 29, not every server.
On October 29, 2026, Studio Wildcard published a list of inactive official ARK: Survival Ascended servers scheduled for retirement on November 29. Affected servers carry a SUNSET prefix and disappear from the in-game Favorites list. Check the full current list and its exceptions before deciding what to do; the studio says it is working with Nitrado on post-sunset save access but has not yet published a guaranteed download or migration procedure.
ARK: Survival Ascended official-server communities; announced November 29, 2026 sunsetHow to check whether your official server is affected
Open Studio Wildcard's official sunset announcement linked below. Find your full server identifier, including region, PvP or PvE mode, map and number. The announcement separates servers removed from the sunset list from those still scheduled for closure; do not mistake the exception list for the closure list.
Studio Wildcard says affected servers have been renamed with a SUNSET prefix. Once renamed, they are removed from the game's Favorites list, so an apparent disappearance from Favorites does not necessarily mean the server is already offline. Search the server browser manually for the renamed server.
Check the developer's announcement again before making irreversible decisions, since the notice already contains an amended list. A server absent from the list should not be treated as scheduled for retirement based on rumors.
November 29 is the announced retirement date
The official notice was published October 29, 2026 and schedules the listed inactive official servers for retirement on November 29, 2026. As of this article's publication, that date is in the future; the servers have not all already closed.
Studio Wildcard explains that it adds capacity around major content launches and later retires some underused instances. It says it still intends to provide capacity during future launches. This is an official-network capacity decision, not a new game-engine requirement for independently hosted servers.
What is known about world saves and transfers?
Studio Wildcard says it is working with Nitrado to make saves from the retired servers available after the scheduled shutdown through Nitrado's interface. The announcement asks players to wait for more details. It does not provide a confirmed release date for those downloads, a public migration workflow, or a guarantee that a given save can be imported into any third-party hosting service.
If preserving a particular community world is essential, document the exact server name, region, map and mode now. Keep track of the official save-access announcement and check what the eventual files contain, what game version they require, and what restrictions apply before purchasing or configuring a replacement server.
Do not rely on unofficial download links or claims that world transfers are already guaranteed. Save availability and the ability to restore that save on a particular host are separate questions.
What community administrators should do now
First, tell your players whether your exact official server appears on the active sunset list. Include a link to Studio Wildcard's source, not just a screenshot that may become outdated. Second, record the community's essential settings, mod dependencies, map and player expectations so you can assess alternatives.
Third, decide whether the group wants to move to another existing official server, wait for official save access, or investigate an independently hosted world. Those paths are not equivalent: moving characters or items between official servers depends on current game transfer rules, while restoring a saved world requires compatible files and a supported hosting setup.
Finally, avoid promising continuity of inventories, structures, tribe ownership or cross-platform mod behavior before the exact transfer or restoration procedure has been verified. If you evaluate private hosting, ask the provider specifically about ARK: Survival Ascended support, supported maps and mods, server version, save imports, backups and platform restrictions.
What this announcement does not mean
The announced retirement concerns the named official servers. It does not say that all ARK official servers are closing on November 29, that all private servers must update, or that Unreal Engine 5.8 has been released.
The separately announced UE 5.8 engine update has its own revised target and compatibility considerations. Do not conflate an official-server sunset with an engine rollout, or assume the former changes the requirements of an existing private server.
A couple more questions
Why did my ARK server disappear from Favorites?
Studio Wildcard says servers renamed with the SUNSET prefix are removed from Favorites. Search the server browser manually using the server's identifier to check whether it remains online.
Are all ARK: Survival Ascended servers closing November 29?
No. The announcement names a subset of inactive official servers. It also lists servers that were removed from the closure list.
Can I download my official ARK world now?
The developer says it is working with Nitrado to offer saves after the sunset, but has not yet announced a guaranteed availability date or import procedure.
Does this affect privately hosted ARK servers?
The announced retirement applies to specified official-network servers. It does not announce closure of independently hosted servers.
